Maybe someone has encouraged you to give curling a try or maybe your curiosity was aroused by watching our Olympic & World championship competitors on TV. It looks like fun (it is!) and you would like to give it a try but not at the commitment and cost of a full year membership. Please consider our inexpensive Learn to Curl program.
Learn to Curl is an on and off ice six session program for adults with qualified staff to teach the basics of curling covering:
- Curling etiquette
- Equipment needs
- Safety on the ice
- Delivering the stone
- Understanding turns and curl
- Use of curling delivery aids
- Strategy of the game
- Short practice games
The equipment you will need will be provided by the Club. You need only bring a clean pair of rubber soled shoes and loose-fitting clothing suitable in a 5-degree environment.
Pick a time that best suits you (Thursday mornings at 10:00, Friday evenings at 7:00 or Sunday afternoons at 3:00). Participation is peak at the start of the season and in early January (Christmas gifts?) but the program runs season long subject to a minimum of participants.
Should you wish to continue curling at the conclusion of the program, you may a) join a Club league. You will be assisted in doing so and your membership fee will be discounted, prorated for the weeks remaining in the season, or b) join our Rookie League which is exclusive to our recent Learn to Curl program graduates.
