Whether you have been encouraged by others or inspired by viewing our national, Olympic or world championship competitors, our Learn to Curl program is an excellent introduction to curling. It looks like fun. It is and also challenging and social.
Learn to Curl is an adult, on and off-ice program with qualified staff teaching the basics of curling. The program content includies:
- Curling etiquette,
- Safety on the ice,
- Delivering the stone,
- Understanding turns and curl,
- Use of alternate delivery aids,
- Sweeping,
- Strategy of the game, and
- Short practice games.
Equipment is provided, you need only to bring a clean pair of rubber soled shoes and loose-fitting clothing suitable in a 5-degree environment.
Each season our Learn to Curl program has two sessions, Fall and Winter.
- The Fall session registration is late summer/early fall, with the program starting after our Open House in mid-October.
- The Winter session registration opens in early December with the program starting at the end of December and/or early January.
Within the Fall and Winter sessions, we have two program formats.
- The Condensed format includes 3 classes (Friday night 6:30 to 8:30, Saturday & Sunday 1:00 to 4:30).
- The Weekly format includes 6 weekly classes on Sundays from 4:00 to 5:30.
Graduates, should they wish, are assisted in joining the Club’s Rookie Curling program or League play.
